About the Thomas Family

In 1969, a 20-year-old Shirley Thomas immigrated to the United States from Scarborough, Tobago in hopes of finding a  job to support her 11 siblings and parents back at home. While working multiple jobs, both night and day, raising her own 4 children, and assisting to move her siblings one-by-one to the US, Shirley always had one constant: her cooking. You could always expect a nice home-cooked meal and served on the side: a bottle of home-made pepper sauce. Over years, Shirley perfected her pepper sauce and everyone who got to taste it was always asking for more. 

Shirley's son, Jamal Thomas and his family decided that this pepper sauce was simply too good to keep in our family. After months of pondering, the family began crafting the foundation for Thomas Family Taste LLC. Based in New York, we bottle, label, and sell Grandma Shirley's signature Scarborough Spice Pepper Sauce both in person and online. As we begin to grow, we hope to expand into physical storefronts and new sauces and spices.
